More than 300 students graduated from the e-Rozgaar Programme at the University of Sargodha on Wednesday, marking the completion of a digital skills training initiative that has enabled thousands of young people to secure sustainable online livelihoods through freelancing and entrepreneurship.
The graduation ceremony, organised by the University's e-Rozgaar Centre at the Malik Feroz Khan Noon Business School, recognised students who completed training in various high-demand digital skills. Graduation certificates were awarded to more than 300 participants.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Dean Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Usman Minhas, Dean Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rehana Ilyas, Director Academics Uzma Shahzadi, Manager e-Rozgaar Centre Malik Kaleem Ullah, and faculty members were also present.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas said that digital competence had become an essential requirement for economic empowerment in today's technology-driven world. He said universities must equip students not only with academic qualifications but also with practical, market-oriented skills that enable them to compete in the global digital economy.
He said the University of Sargodha was committed to producing job creators rather than job seekers by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and freelancing. He added that graduates intending to establish their own companies would be provided institutional guidance as well as access to soft financing to help launch their businesses.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ilyas said the e-Rozgaar Programme, had emerged as an effective platform for preparing young people for opportunities in the global freelance marketplace. He said the university had further strengthened the programme by aligning it with emerging technological trends and industry requirements.
Malik Kaleem Ullah said more than 4,000 students had graduated from 15 batches at the UoS. He said graduates of the programme were earning an average monthly income exceeding Rs100,000 through freelancing and other digital services.
He further said several students from the latest graduating batch had started earning during the training period and had collectively generated more than Rs30 million, reflecting the practical impact of the initiative.
During the ceremony, graduates Haroon Ali, Zahra Jabeen, Mehwish Naveed, Haider Ali, Muhammad Qaiser and Muhammad Rehman shared their experiences, highlighting how the programme had enabled them to build successful freelance careers and achieve financial independence.
